In-Depth Asana Study: Twists

Twists are a family of asanas that, when practiced regularly in a healthy manner, offer numerous benefits for the spine and digestive health. Twists are wonderful for releasing stress, tension, and tightness in the body. Unfortunately, due to living a more sedentary lifestyle, many people experience discomfort and lose some range of motion in spinal rotation. As yoga teachers we have the ability to utilize these poses in such a way that can allow our students the opportunity to find the deep and rejuvenating benefits that twists have to offer. Participants can expect to walk away from this module with a new understanding of how to sequence and counterpose twists for the beginner to advanced student, as well as, their effects on the physical and subtle energetic bodies.
