Teaching Strong Bones. Healthy Aging.

with Heather Otterbine double 500-hour certified E-RYT 500 & Yoga Medicine Registered Therapeutics Specialist

Osteoporosis and low-bone mass affects an estimated 48 million Americans, 80 percent of those are women. A mindful yoga practice that includes weight-bearing poses can build strength, ease tension, and encourage good posture. It also helps improve flexibility, stability, and agility. These benefits make daily movements easier, improves coordination, and reduces the risk of falling.  Yoga can be a helpful addition to combat the effects of osteopenia and osteoporosis. It can help to ease symptoms, improve bone health, and lower the risk of complications.  Throughout this course we will discuss the process and effects of low-bone density, osteopenia, and osteoporosis, as well as how to structure safe, effective yoga classes that support and empower our students on their journey to better health and well-being.
